Tom Hamilton and Karl Finkenbinder obtain $20,000 punitive damages verdict for local property owners

Tom Hamilton

Braden, et al. v. Wasson, et al., Case No. 16AF-CC01237 (Taney County Circuit Court)

Tom Hamilton and Karl Finkenbinder represented plaintiffs, who loaned their daughter and son-in-law nearly $200,000 to purchase a foreclosed home in Hollister, Missouri.

Following separation and ultimate dissolution of the daughter’s marriage, defendant (ex-husband) refused to vacate the premises or repay the loan.

At the conclusion of trial, the court not only awarded plaintiffs $199,000 in actual damages, but also awarded them $20,000 in punitive damages for the former husband’s willful and malicious refusal to vacate the premises.
